At the invitation of Mr. Chua Kee Seng, President of the Singapore Kim Mui Hoey Kuan, as well as its Vice Presidents, Mr. Tan Tock Han and Mr. Chang Song-Sen, Representative Francis Kuo-Hsin Liang attended the association’s Chinese New Year celebration on 29 January 2017. About 200 persons, including the commissioner from the Overseas Community Affairs Council, office bearer of the Taipei Business Association in Singapore, and other officials from the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore gathered at the celebration.
In his address, Representative Liang wished everyone present a Happy Chinese New Year and hoped that the Kim Mui Hoey Kuan, which plays a key role in the preservation of the Kinmen heritage, culture and traditions, will continue to build bonds of friendship within the community as well as between Singapore and Taiwan. In his turn, Mr. Chua Kee Seng, President of the Singapore Kim Mui Hoey Kuan, expressed his appreciation for Representative Liang’s support and gave an update on the achievements of the association in the past year. In ushering the new year, Mr. Chua also announced plans for the association’s membership drive and changes to widen the participation of its bursary scheme.
The association’s celebrations started off with the tossing of Singapore-style yusheng. Adding to the festive cheer, the Hwa Kang Dance Troupe of Chinese Culture University, which is in Singapore to perform at the 2017 River Hongbao Festival, also entertained the audience with a series of lively performances.
