It performs a central project management role, administering the budget and assisting APEC Member Economies and APEC fora with overseeing various APEC-funded projects. Dr. Alan Bollard, former governor of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, has served as the APEC Secretariat Executive Director since 2013.
