The government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) extends its sincerest appreciation to the United States Congress and executive branch for their staunch support of its participation in international organizations, including the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL).  On March 18, President Obama signed into law US Congress S. 2426, supporting ROC  participation in INTERPOL and at other related meetings, activities, and mechanisms as an observer.

Officials from various US federal government departments, including such senior officials as Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel Russel, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Susan Thornton, and Department of State's Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Economic and Business Affairs Kurt Tong, have publicly expressed US support for the ROC’s meaningful participation in INTERPOL. That the US attaches great importance to the ROC’s international participation proves once again that Taiwan-US relations are the best they have been for 37 years.(E)
