At the invitation of the Republic of China (Taiwan) government, Jean-François Cesarini, President of the French National Assembly’s Taiwan-France Friendship Group, is leading a six-member delegation to Taiwan from November 13 to 16. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs extends a warm welcome to the delegation.

As a close friend of Taiwan, Mr. Cesarini has supported Taiwan when international enterprises have improperly changed the country’s designation, as well as backing our participation in WHO. He also helped receive President of the Legislative Yuan Su Jia-chyuan during his visit to the French National Assembly in July. In addition to Mr. Cesarini, the delegation includes three other members of France’s National Assembly—Thierry Michels, Anne-France Brunet, and Nicole Trisse—all of whom are visiting Taiwan for the first time.

During their visit, the members of the delegation will meet with President Tsai Ing-wen, and call at the Legislative Yuan, the Executive Yuan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, and the Ministry of Transportation and Communications’ Tourism Bureau. They will also attend the French Tech Night event, and visit the 2018 Taichung World Flora Expo, the Intelligent Manufacturing Pilot Production Site, and the Asian Institute of TeleSurgery at Changhua County’s Show Chwan Memorial Hospital, as well as such other sites of economic and cultural interest as the National Palace Museum and Taipei 101.

Already established as Taiwan’s fourth-largest European trading partner, in June France launched French Tech Taiwan at the Ministry of Science and Technology’s Taiwan Tech Arena, laying a solid foundation for cooperation and exchange in scientific research and innovation. The delegation will use this visit to exchange opinions with related Taiwanese agencies regarding such issues as innovative industries, energy transitioning, and digital culture, further enhancing the friendly bilateral relations and substantial exchanges between Taiwan and France.
