Paola Frassinetti, Vice President of the Committee on Culture, Science and Education of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, is leading a four-person parliamentary delegation to Taiwan from September 4 to 8 at the invitation of the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes their visit.

The purpose of the visit is to gain a deeper understanding of Taiwan’s political, economic, social and cultural development, so as to strengthen substantive exchanges and cooperation between Taiwan and Italy in all domains. The delegation will meet with Mr. Tsai Chi-chang, Vice President of the Legislative Yuan, and call at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Mainland Affairs Council, Environmental Protection Administration and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They will also visit sites of economic and cultural interest such as Taipei 101 and the National Palace Museum.

The visiting members of the Italian Chamber of Deputies and Senate are all good friends of Taiwan and actively promote collaboration programs through the Italy-Taiwan Parliamentary Friendship Group, thereby making significant contributions to advancing bilateral relations.

Italy is Taiwan’s fifth-largest trading partner in Europe. Bilateral trade has continued to increase in recent years. Cultural and tourism exchanges are also becoming more frequent. Taiwan and Italy will endeavor to further advance their ties on the strong foundation that is already in place. (E)
