The Ministry of Foreign Affairs extends congratulations to France on its successful presidential election runoff May 7, 2017, and to President-elect Emmanuel Macron on his overwhelming victory.
Taiwan and France share in common the values of freedom, democracy, fraternity, and human rights, and engage in bilateral exchanges in a wide variety of fields. France is Taiwan’s fourth-largest trading partner in Europe, and the two countries enjoy close cooperation in such areas as trade, investment, science and technology, culture, and education. Based on this foundation, Taiwan looks forward to further building up its relations with France in all fields, benefiting both sides. (E)
