Marek Krajčí of the Committee on Health Care of the Slovak National Council is leading a four-member parliamentary delegation visiting Taiwan from June 5 to 10 at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan).

The delegation, consisting of four National Council members including Dr. Krajčí, Alan Suchánek, Igor Janckulík, and Jana Ciganikova, has called on Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Yuan Tsai Chi-Chang and at the National Development Council, Mainland Affairs Council, Ministry of Health and Welfare, and National Health Insurance Administration. Delegates have also attended a luncheon hosted by François Chih-Chung Wu, Deputy Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and will visit medical universities, the National Palace Museum, Taipei 101, Taroko National Park, and other sites related to their interests.

In recent years, Taiwan-Slovakia relations have continued to progress, with the two countries having signed numerous agreements and memoranda of understanding on such areas as double taxation avoidance, e-government, mutual recognition of driver's licenses, youth working holidays, and science and technology. In addition, Taiwan’s companies have invested some 3 billion euros in Slovakia as bilateral trade continues to grow. Looking to the future, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to promote substantive exchanges and cooperation with Slovakia in a wide variety of areas based on the existing solid foundation.
