The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) congratulates the Federal Republic of Germany on the successful completion of the election for its federal parliament, the Bundestag, on September 24, which was held in a peaceful and orderly fashion.
Taiwan and Germany share a strong commitment to common values of freedom, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. Bilateral relations continue to grow steadily. Germany is Taiwan’s largest trading partner in Europe, while Taiwan is Germany’s fifth-largest in Asia. The two countries also maintain close cooperation in such areas as academic research, science and technology, culture, education, and energy. In addition, for many years, Germany has staunchly supported Taiwan’s meaningful participation in international organizations.
The ROC government seeks to build on this excellent foundation to further enhance mutually beneficial cooperation with the German government in all areas. (E)
