A three-member delegation from Chatham House led by Dr. Champa Patel, Head of its Asia-Pacific Program, is visiting Taiwan from September 24 to 29 at the invitation of the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes their visit.

During their stay, the delegates will call at government agencies including the National Security Council, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Mainland Affairs Council and National Development Council. They will visit local think tanks such as the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy, Prospect Foundation, Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research and Taiwan-Asia Exchange Foundation. The purpose of their visit is to advance academic exchanges and strengthen ties between Taiwan and UK think tanks. The delegation’s itinerary also includes visits to sites of economic and cultural interest such as Taipei 101 and the National Palace Museum.

Dr. Patel is accompanied by Associate Fellow Rod Wye and Manager Chloe Sageman, both also from the Asia-Pacific Program. All three delegates are experts on Asia-Pacific issues, and their visit will foster greater understanding of Taiwan’s major policy, political and economic development among the UK academic community.
