Hungarian National Assembly delegation to visit Taiwan

Mr. István Jakab, MP and Deputy Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly, will lead a delegation consisting of seven members of the Hungary-Taiwan Parliamentary Friendship Association to visit Taiwan from August 24 to 29, 2015, at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of China.

The delegation will have an audience with Vice President Wu Den-yih, and attend luncheons hosted by Legislator Pan Wei-kang  and Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Vanessa Y. P. Shih. The members will also call at the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Council of Agriculture, Nantou County Government, Central Taiwan Science Park, and the Hungarian Trade Office. In addition, the delegation will visit the National Palace Museum, a number of high-tech companies, Wu-Feng Farmer’s Association Distillery, Yehliu Geopark, and Taipei 101.

This trip will provide the delegation with a better understanding of the most recent political, economic, and social developments in Taiwan, and help open up new avenues of cooperation in such areas as the economy and trade, agriculture, sports, culture, and education, for the benefit of both countries.

With almost 30 members, the Hungary-Taiwan Parliamentary Friendship Association is one of the largest bilateral friendship groups in the Hungarian National Assembly and has staunchly supported the deepening of substantive exchanges and cooperation between Hungary and Taiwan. (E)
