No. 238

Mr. Mduduzi Dlamini, Minister of Tinkhundla Administration and Development of the Kingdom of Swaziland, will visit the Republic of China (Taiwan) in the company of Madam Dlamini and Mr. Thulani Mkhalipi, Director of Decentralization, from November 2 to November 6, 2014.

Minister Dlamini will call at the Council of Agriculture, the Workforce Development Agency of the Ministry of Labor, and the Agriculture Development Bureau of Taoyuan County Government, as well as visit the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families, the Taoyuan District Agricultural Research and Extension Station, Taipei School for the Hearing Impaired and Taipei 101. Ambassador Simon S. Y. Ko, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, will host a luncheon in honor of the delegation.

This trip, Minister Dlamini’s second, will provide him with an opportunity to gain a better understanding of agricultural development here, as well as of Taiwanese NGO’s and their work in international humanitarian assistance. Minister Dlamini will also exchange views with ROC government officials. His visit will serve as a useful reference for carrying out his duties back in Swaziland.

The Kingdom of Swaziland is an important ally of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Africa, and its government firmly supports Taiwan’s efforts to participate meaningfully in the United Nations, the World Health Organization, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, and the International Civil Aviation Organization, among others. The two countries have enjoyed cordial relations since 1968, and high-level exchanges have played an important part in strengthening bilateral ties and mutual trust. (E)
