Dr. Romualds Ražuks, Chair of the Latvian Parliaments Public Health Subcommittee, is leading a three-member delegation to Taiwan from June 25 to 29 at the invitation of the Republic of China (Taiwan) government. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes Dr. Ražuks and his delegation.

The purpose of the visit is to gain a better understanding of the implementation of Taiwans national health insurance program, tiered system of medical insurance, and care plans, as well as engage in parliamentary exchanges designed to boost substantial cooperative relations.

During their visit, the members of the delegation will call on Legislative Yuan Vice President Tsai Chi-chang, and attend a luncheon hosted in their honor by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They will also call at the Ministry of Health and Welfare, National Taiwan University Hospital Bei-Hu Branch, Kaohsiung Medical University, and Pingtung Christian Hospital. The delegates will also visit sites of economic and cultural interest such as the National Palace Museum and Taipei 101.

Taiwan and Latvia share such common values as freedom, democracy, and the rule of law. Building on this foundation, MOFA will continue to promote substantial cooperation and exchange with Latvia in medical care, trade, academia, and culture and education, among other areas. (E)
