Preparations underway for Third National Report on the implementation of two human rights covenants

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has embarked on preparations for Taiwan's Third National Report on the implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.

MOFA's work involves gathering information on important developments regarding international human rights conventions and Taiwan's involvement in associated issues, and assisting or subsidizing the participation of Taiwanese private-sector organizations or NGOs in related international meetings and activities. MOFA also provides international humanitarian assistance, assists diplomatic allies and friendly nations to develop their agricultural, forestry, fisheries, animal husbandry, and public health and medical sectors through professional education and training, coordinates material and monetary donations in the event of major international disasters, provides clarifications behind the reasoning for visa rejections, and furnishes foreign media with press releases and material on current affairs.

MOFA has been documenting human rights-related efforts and progress toward associated objectives since 2017, and welcomes suggestions from the private sector and civil society regarding such matters.
